Navigation Point Classroom Facilitator will work directly with students assigned to the program. They will support and be a liaison between the home school teacher and the student in supporting the students while in attendance at Navigation Point.JOB TITLE: Navigation Point Classroom FacilitatorREPORT TO: Federal Program DirectorSUMMARY: TheNavigation Point Classroom Facilitator works with students from grades 6-12 in an alternative interim disciplinary setting where they can receive academic support and complete disciplinary hearing expectations until they can return to their assigned school.Minimum Qualifications: Two years of college-level coursework or an Associates Degree in education or a related field preferredPrevious aide or teaching experience preferredKnowledge of child growth and development and appropriate classroom practicesDemonstrated ability to assist with instructional activitiesKnowledge of subject matters and ability to instruct students at the direction of the teacherKnowledgeable in word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and reportsAbility to maintain a positive learning environmentWorks well with students, staff, and the publicExcellent organizational skillsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsAble to work under pressure and deadlinesMaintain confidentiality of staff and studentsDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Working with StudentsMaintain high academic standards and expectationsProvide tutorial help to students following lessons prescribed by the teacher and reinforce material and skills using a variety of methods as directed by certified staffProvide immediate feedback on student performance to students and to the supervising teacherRespond to students questions and requests for assistanceObserve students work and study habitsObserve and record students time on task when neededAssist students in locating prescribed instructional materials and starting their assignmentsAssist the classroom teacher in the delivery of an effective instructional programWork with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material and skills introduced by the teacherHelp students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacherProvide individualized instruction activities using materials and sequences selected by the supervising teacherIdentify pupil needs and provide instruction appropriate to those needsFollow modifications and accommodations as specified in Individual Education Plans (IEPs)Assist with such large group activities as drill and practice, reading aloud, and storytelling, and participate in other forms of oral communication with studentsGuide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work assigned by the teacherCheck notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and makeup work as assigned by the teacherAssist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field tripsAdminister, score, and record such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual studentsEncourage students to strive to meet their highest potentialCommunicate classroom rules and encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behaviorTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Includes 7 legal holidays: Labor Day non paidThanksgiving DayChristmas DayNew Years DayMartin Luther King DayPresidents DayMemorial DayAll non-certificated staff not under contract are under at will employment. Their positions shall be considered in all respects employment at will and the employee is subject to discharge by the district at any time without cause. The employment period and other descriptions and terms set forth in their job descriptions shall not create a property right in the employee and such are set forth only to advise the employee of when and what type of services will be required by the district so long as employment continues.The employment period shall be for nine (9) months, with vacations as specified by district rules and regulations.

The salary shall be determined by the Superintendent and approved by the Board of Trustees.
