Job Summary
Reporting directly to the VP Finance, the Director of Operations Finance is responsible to ensure compliance with the company's objectives, through the monitoring of the business and the delivery of comprehensive support to the planning and management decision-making of the contingent financial operation through measuring, analyzing, diagnosing, generating and reporting timely, quality, free of bias and relevant information to increase effectiveness, sustain the operation and avoid risks. Once issues have been identified generating action plans in the event of deviations and continuously monitoring the process.
Essential duties and Responsibilities
Manage and develop plant finance team including training, job content definition, mentoring, career planning, and performance evaluation with a focus on regular feedback to all direct reports and staff.
Align each area objective with the overall strategy, coordinating the objectives between areas and ensuring that the information they provide is congruent with the objectives as a company.
Implement real time dashboards reviewing daily production and efficiently utilizing BI software and ERP.
Function as the “co-pilot” to Director of Manufacturing and or VP of Supply Chain.
Responsible for plant and product cost variance analysis, provide transparency and proactively leading initiatives and measures to close gaps to budget (reduce COGS)
Prepare and/or oversee timely and accurate preparation of monthly consolidated operations financial reviews including all key KPIs as defined by VP of Supply Chain and VP of Finance.
Responsible for annual standard cost process at each location with full understanding of changes in annual rates due to overhead, labor, volume etc..
Responsible for Consolidated Quarterly (Commitment) and Annual (BU) forecasting process for all operations. Working with PMs and Finance leaders to drive cost and efficiency improvements.
Review all capital project analyses and validate post expenditure achievement of expected return on investment.
Ensure accurate and consistent valuation of inventories in compliance with USGAAP and UNICAP tax rules.
Management of inventory reserves and support initiatives to reduce inventory losses/cost of poor quality
Provide leadership in strengthening internal communication and understanding of staff at all levels and across multiple locations to create and promote a positive and supportive teamwork environment.
Collaborate with Director of Manufacturing and VP of Supply Chain to improve how Finance can better serve and support their operations.
Participating in IBP (capacity and inventory planning, production costs and COGS forecasts, etc
Support and prepare for timely and efficient completion of internal and external financial audits.
Prepare internal management reports and analytics as may be defined by management.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by the VP-Finance.
Qualifications/Minimum Requirements
Active certification in accounting a plus, CMA is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or Business Administration with Accounting/Finance major, is required.
10 years of progressive levels of experience at Plant Controller level or higher, in a $200M manufacturing company with extensive knowledge of cost accounting.
Working knowledge of USGAAP and SOX internal controls.
Strong Microsoft Excel spreadsheet experience is required, and One stream software experience is plus. Highly organized and collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and managerial skills with an interest in operations.
Ability to prioritize and plan work effectively in a lean accounting environment with strict deadlines.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and presentation abilities.
Recent experience working within an ERP system environment, such as JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, Oracle or SAP.
Experience using various intranet and web-based technologies to effectively communicate and coordinate with remote staff is preferred (Microsoft Teams).
Strong analytical, problem-solving skills for making timely fact-based decisions.
Ability to anticipate and adapt to constant change in a dynamically growing business environment is preferred.
Ability and willingness to travel in Wisconsin visiting plant locations approximately 15% of time is required.
Experience with Operational Excellence a plus
Customer focused delivering results through teamwork will be required.
