Summary
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS programs that ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The EHS Coordinator will play a key role in promoting a culture of safety and sustainability within the organization, ensuring safe work practices, reducing environmental impacts, and minimizing workplace hazards. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet the company’s safety and environmental goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supports Environmental Health and Safety compliance reporting and metric tracking
Assists in creating and implementing EHS written programs, SOPs and associated documentation
Responsible for maintaining accurate documentation and record keeping
Conduct safety orientation and training sessions for employees, contractors, and new hires to ensure awareness of workplace hazards, safe work practices, and emergency procedures.
Initiates training related to Safety Programs; documents training records
Coordinate emergency drills (e.g. fire, evacuation, chemical spill) to ensure employees are prepared for emergency situations
Serve as a point of contact for emergency situations, providing guidance and support to employees and first responders
Serve as primary point of contact for Worker’s compensation case management, ensuring timely reporting, and coordination of provider paperwork
Observe and provide coaching on all work accommodations to ensure compliance, employee understanding, and alignment with safety and operational standards
Supports customer, regulatory and certification audits, presents audit findings and improvement recommendations to leadership
Monitors performance by gathering relevant data and conducting trend analysis (BBO, Quality/Safety Excellence, LOTO verification)
Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences (RCA).
Participate in Behavior Based Safety observations with employees in their departments
Collaborated cross functionally to ensure compliance with Food Safety and Food Quality, act as backup to quality needed
Promote and support initiatives that foster a culture of safety and environmental sustainability.
Complete all required training in a timely manner
Adhere to ERU food safety policies and all government food safety and sanitation regulations (ex. FDA, HACCP, GMP, OSHA)
Qualifications
Required qualifications, skills, and experience for the job; education background, certifications, relevant work experience, technical skills, and soft skills.
Minimum of 2-year associate degree in safety or related field and 2 years of manufacturing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required
Minimum of 2 years’ experience creating, implementing, and/or enforcing safety programs preferred
OSHA 30 Hour General Industry, First aid/CPR or related certifications a plus
Knowledge of Safety and Environmental permitting, regulations and requirements for industrial applications is desired
Experience with forklift training and/or any other train the trainer qualifications
Ability to work with minimal supervision, self-starter skillset and ability to make decisions
Effective change management skillset with the guidance of the EHS Manager

Demonstrate excellent organizational skills, dependability and the ability to prioritize based on company needs
Proficient within computer applications (Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, EHS Software platforms)
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and requirements
