Description
The Vice President of Quality, Strategy, & Operations is a senior leadership position focused on overseeing and driving the development, implementation, and management of strategies related to quality improvement, operational excellence, and patient safety. This role is vital to ensuring that healthcare organizations provide high-quality care while meeting regulatory requirements, improving patient outcomes, and optimizing operational efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Strategic Planning and Development :
Under the direction of the Chief Quality Officer, Emory Healthcare, develop the departmental quality and patient safety strategy to meet organizational goals, focusing on improving clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and safety
Lead and design efforts to monitor, measure, and improve quality metrics, ensuring alignment with national standards, regulatory requirements (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission), and internal benchmarks
Oversee initiatives aimed at reducing healthcare-associated infections, readmissions, and other key performance indicators
Collaborate with other senior leaders to ensure quality initiatives are integrated into the daily operations of clinical and administrative teams
Collaborate with key leadership to manage the day-to-day business operations related to quality initiatives, such as monitoring performance metrics and ensuring the department meets goals and targets
Align operational strategies with quality goals, ensuring that resources (human, financial, and technological) are effectively deployed
Oversee budgets related to quality and patient safety programs and ensure financial stewardship and responsibility
Incorporate new technologies and innovative practices to enhance quality and operational efficiency
Utilize data analytics and reporting tools to track and analyze performance indicators across departments and care settings
Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop dashboards, reports, and performance reviews to inform decision-making
Use data to identify areas for improvement, establish baselines, and monitor progress over time
Partner with key leadership to champion health equity, well-being, inclusion, and belonging initiatives that enhance the patient experience, improve outcomes, and staff experience
Ensure the health system adopts evidence-based practices that align with the latest clinical guidelines and best practices to advance equity in quality
Work closely with the C-suite, department heads, and clinical leadership to align quality and operational goals with overall business objectives
Build relationships with external stakeholders, such as payers, regulators, and community organizations, to drive quality initiatives.
Partner with key leaders in the development and execution of strategies aimed at improving healthcare quality while optimizing costs under value-based programs
Develop strategies to drive optimal performance on rankings systems
Integrate clinical, operational, and financial strategies to promote high-quality care and effective resource use
Lead initiatives to integrate clinical and claims data to track and measure performance within value-based payment programs
SKILLS :
Deep knowledge of healthcare delivery systems, clinical workflows, and operational management
Experience in managing quality and safety initiatives in a hospital, health system, or managed care environment
Strong leadership skills with experience in leading cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals
Ability to develop and communicate a clear vision for quality improvement and operational excellence
Expertise in healthcare regulations, accreditation processes, and quality reporting requirements (e.g., CMS, NCQA, Joint Commission)
Knowledge of patient safety frameworks
Proficiency in using healthcare analytics tools, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and performance management software
Ability to interpret data and translate findings into actionable insights
Experience in driving change within complex healthcare organizations
Ability to influence stakeholders and lead cultural shifts towards a focus on quality and patient safety
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Masters degree in healthcare administration, public health, business administration (MBA) or a related field is required.
Ten (10) years of progressive leadership in roles that bridge strategy, finance, and operational responsibilities in healthcare related field.
At least 5 years in a senior management role at a complex highly integrated health system
Preferred : Clinical credentials, such as an RN, MD, or allied health certifications
