What are the responsibilities and job description for the Postdoctoral Fellow in Behavioral Science Research position at Emory University?
The Emory Center for Psychedelics and Spirituality (ECPS) is a partnership between the Emory Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Emory Spiritual Health.
Our interdisciplinary center includes faculty from Psychiatry, Spiritual Health, Palliative Care, Oncology, Religious Studies, Philosophy, Nursing, Family and Preventive Medicine, and Anesthesiology, among others.
Postdoctoral Experience: We are recruiting a research-focused postdoctoral fellow. Competitive applicants will have a PhD in psychology or a related field, an interest in understanding how clinical interventions work by studying individualized change processes, and strong writing and data management skills. Prior experience with mixed-method research and ecologically-assessed data are a plus, but not required. Projects would include a range of research being conducted at ECPS, especially an ongoing large trial of psilocybin-assisted therapy (described below). There will be opportunities for collaboration and training with many ECPS faculty. Clinical psychology applicants would have opportunities to gain supervised clinical experience for health service psychology licensure, if desired.
The Optimize Trial is a Phase 2 clinical trial of psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy for major depression. This trial uses a suite of ecological assessment methods, including (1) Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA); (2) daily voice diaries; and (3) the Electronically Activated Recorder (EAR), which makes brief audio recordings of participants’ daily conversations and activities. These methods allow us to investigate a variety of possible determinants of differential treatment response.
This position is offered for a one-year term, with expectation of renewal for a second and potentially third year if the arrangement is satisfactory for all parties.
To apply, email roman.palitsky@emory.edu with a CV and cover letter. Review of applications is rolling and the position will remain open until filled.
