Key Areas of Responsibility (Answerable for the following end results)
- Lead, manage, mentor the general performance and the continual development of the Quality Department. Develop plans to improve the skills of each person in the department and monitor overall effectiveness.
- Oversee the execution of all corrective actions. Monitor, report and improve customer satisfaction performance (PPM’s, PRR’s, NCT’s, QRs, etc)
- Ensure that Core Tools (control plan, PFMEA, etc.) are revised as required, especially as a result of corrective actions.
- Provide leadership to all departments with respect to internal problem-solving activity. Implement and maintain internal product and process reporting systems and provide data driven problem solving / continual improvement systems.
- Lead and maintain PPAP/APQP deliverables to ensure internal, customer and AIAG requirements are met. Ensure the documentation is accurate, organized, posted, maintained and followed consistently.
- Ensure all product specifications are met with respect to fit, finish, durability and appearance. Monitor and report out on company performance with respect to key product and process characteristics. Ensure plans are in place and performance improvements are ongoing with respect to KPC’s.
- Ensure internal and customer databases are current and maintained.
- Ensures that Compulsory certification marks are kept and used appropriately for finished, nonconforming and changed product.
- Ensures notification to the certification body for changed product which uses the Compulsory certification mark.
- Serve as the Customer Representative with regards to quality concerns from a plant level.
- Support initiatives to improve internal performance as it relates to scrap, downtime, efficiency, and FTQ.
- Overall responsibility for the supply base performance, including supplier visits and audits, as required.
- Document all activities as required.
- Adhere to all company guidelines for Emergency Evacuation to ensure employee safety.
- Any additional responsibility deemed necessary by management.
Limits of Authority
- Advise Plant Manager of those situations that may pose a significant risk to the program, product assurance, facilities, employee safety or customer satisfaction results.
- Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformance relating to product, process & systems.
- Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process or system.
- Initiate, recommend or provide solutions thought the appropriate channels and verify implementation.
- Control further processing and delivery of nonconforming product until the deficiency is corrected.
- Approve Business Operating System documentation as applicable
- Purchase Requisition approval for Department purchases
- Approve PPAP documentation
- Validate and approve customer complaint responses
- Review and approve revisions to Core Tools (control plan, PFMEA, etc.)
Basic Education, Experience and Skills Required
- Minimum 4-year degree in manufacturing related curriculum, an ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Engineering capacity within a tier one automotive manufacturing environment.
- At least 3 year supervisory experience within the quality control field.
- Possess color and / or appearance testing approval for product inspection.
- Working knowledge and use of core tools (AIAG).
- Knowledge of color testing equipment (Macbeth, color test, etc.)
