We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead financial reporting and analysis for our organization. In this role, you will be responsible for compiling and analyzing financial results and preparing consolidated financial statements. You will work closely with the Division Controller, Director of Accounting, and VP of Finance & Accounting to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data. Additionally, you will oversee complex accounting transactions, support month-end and year-end close processes, and ensure strict compliance with internal controls and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

This role is located at our Empire Homes Head Office in Charlotte, NC.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5-10 years of accounting experience.
  • A strong knowledge of accounting practices and GAAP guidelines.
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting or related field.
  • Knowledge of Newstar software.
  • Highly skilled in MS Suite, including Excel.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, effectively multitasking, prioritizing, and adapting to changing needs with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking with a keen eye for identifying discrepancies and variances in financial data.

Bonus If You Have These Skills

  • CPA certification is an asset.
  • Experience with BuildPro.
  • Experience working in the homebuilding industry.

What You’ll Be Doing Each Day

  • Manage Accounts Payable function and staff.
  • Review and approve journal entries and construct high level, complex journal entries, while ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as internal accounting policies.
  • Responsible for the month end close process, timely account reconciliations, and KPI tracking in collaboration with the Director of Accounting/VP, Finance & Accounting
  • Identify and make recommendations on process improvements.
  • Assist with interim and year-end audits by collecting and validating data, providing documentation and responding to inquiries.
