CNC Machine Setup Lead

Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Summary: CNC Machine Setup Personnel must have a strong understanding of general machining practices. They must be able to sets up CNC lathes and/or mills for production. They must set-up and operate multi-axis lathes and vertical machining centers, interpret all types of CNC programs, prints and specifications while monitoring and inspecting parts to conform to specifications. Setup personnel make sure the machine has the proper computer program and necessary tools installed. CNC Setup personnel are to make themselves available to address any problems during the production run. They are the support person for the daily maintenance of the machines. If there is an issue, they are responsible for making the necessary adjustments to make the correction. They must communicate with engineering and Quality assurance.
Duties but not limited to:
- Must be able to setup a milling machine or lathe from printing the paperwork to attaining 1st article approval.
- The machine cell should be ready for the CNC Operator to begin running production.
- During the production run they must be able to change tools, adjust offsets and edit programs.
- Reading drawings and specifications with an intermediate understanding of geometric tolerance and dimensioning.
- Solid knowledge of CNC tooling for lathes and mills.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced work environment. Must be able to adapt to changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays, and/or unexpected events
- Assist in optimizing machine output through program adjustments and proper preventive maintenance requirements
- Maintain continuity among work shifts. Report discrepancies and/or problems to designated supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager
Skills & Qualifications but not limited t):
- Must have at least 2 years of related experience
- Must be reliable
- Must have a good attendance record
- Must be able to work in varying temperatures
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to work flexible schedules including overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays, as necessary
- Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to work with others
