What are the responsibilities and job description for the Die Cast Operator position at Empire Die Casting Co.?
Summary:
The function of the Die Cast Operator is to setup, operate, and make adjustments to die cast machines and all related equipment. He or she may perform either die cast operation or the degator operation as needed. He or she is responsible for working safely and to produce good quality parts to meet standards.
Duties but not limited to:
- Operate machines to provide the required quantity of good quality parts to meet production standards
- Visual inspection of parts during production cycle of equipment
- Reach and lift moderately heavy parts
- Stand and operate machine continuously for up to 10 hours per day
- Operates equipment in a safe manner to protect self and others from injuries
- Keep work cell clean and orderly
- Must be capable of operating hydraulic trim press, keep the cast conveyor unloaded and to prepare castings for shipment and/or secondary operations
- Manually remove gates and runners as defined in work instructions and inspect as required to assure product quality
- Operate trim presses to remove excess metal as defined in work instructions, properly inspect as required to assure product quality and identify and tag parts per instruction sheets
- Required to complete paperwork associated with the job (timecard, machine card, production records, charts, preventive maintenance records, etc.)
- Wear required personal protective equipment
- Perform other associated duties, functions or work as may be needed or assigned to continue the productive operation of the company
- Ensure all safety guards and interlocks are operating correctly
Skills & Qualifications but not limited to:
- Must be able to read and understand written directives. The predominate form of instructions are visual and verbal.
- Ability to read, write and use math required
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with others
