JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for all tasks related to providing clerical and support services in the pharmacy. It handles pharmacy prescriptions, provides effective customer service and completes the necessary support functions that result in the dispensing of medication. It follows organizational guidelines and ensures the accuracy and timeliness of all tasks completed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greets Members arriving at the pharmacy in a professional, courteous and friendly manner.
- Utilizes knowledge of organizational guidelines and eligibility rules when assisting patients.
- Attempts to resolve Member concerns and escalates them when appropriate.
- Packages filled order attaching the appropriate prescription packaging, verifies Member identity, operates the pharmacy cash register/Point of Sales system and completes transaction.
- Accurately enters data into the pharmacy computer system.
- Takes stock inventory, notes level and identifies items that are running low or close to expiration.
- Directs Members to counsel window for pharmacist consultation.
- May perform additional pharmacy services under the direct supervision of the licensed pharmaceutical staff.
- Follows and maintains up-to-date knowledge of Health Center policies and procedures as relevant to the job function.
- Performs additional job related clerical duties (answering phones, copying, data entry, scanning, etc.), as needed. 11. Ensures patient confidentiality and follows all HIPAA and any other governmental or state agency requirements regarding the appropriate handling of PHI.
- Represents the Health Center to patients in a professional manner.
- Contributes to team effort.
- Provides excellent customer service.
- Assists in other areas, as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 2 years’ related work experience as a pharmacy cashier or technician.
- Prior computer experience is helpful.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and proficient typing skills.
- Ability to manage and effectively follow up on completion of assigned duties.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of assigned duties and responsibilities.
- Strong ability to maintain positive and professional relationships with peers.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Positive work attitude.
- Detail oriented.
- High School Diploma or GED. Associate’s Degree preferred.
- Bilingual a plus (Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Creole, Polish, Russian).
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Prolonged periods of walking/sitting/standing.
- Bending, stooping and lifting.
- Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
