2% Salary Increase in July 2025
Under supervision, performs routine clerical, administrative, and data processing work in the billing for the City's water, wastewater, solid waste, and other public services; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility. Exercises no supervision.
Examples of Duties
Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Supports the work unit relating to the accurate preparation and distribution of the municipal services bills;
- Processes work orders for utility disconnections, reconnections, new orders, and other public works service requests;
- Performs registration and/or meter exchanges and updates the CIS system with new meters;
- Coordinates the collection of past due accounts including the preparation of proper notification;
- Process various accounting items such as credit refunds and conservation rebates;
- Receives and responds to inquiries and complaints over the phone or at the counter;
- Performs credit and collection duties and calculates charges for write-offs and account adjustments;
- Ensures timely and accurate posting and maintenance of related data;
- Performs billing functions as back-up to Billing Specialist; and
- Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Three years of increasingly responsible experience as a customer service representative.
- Equivalent to a high school diploma.
- College level courses in accounting and business practices are desirable. For college level coursework obtained outside of the U.S., an official equivalency evaluation is required.
Essential functions and duties require the following physical abilities and work environment:
- Ability to work in a standard office environment; ability to travel to different sites and locations;
- Regularly required to talk or hear;
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.;
- Occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and
- Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
