The Employment Law Center of Maryland is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit legal aid organization dedicated to fighting for Maryland workers. We are seeking an entry-level or mid-level attorney to represent employees in state and federal courts in discrimination, wrongful termination, and wage theft cases.

As an employment law attorney at our center, you will have the autonomy to manage your own cases while always feeling supported by your supervisors, colleagues, and professional staff. Our attorneys take the lead in litigating civil rights and employment law cases, making this an excellent opportunity for those looking for hands-on experience in litigation.
Your Responsibilities
- Advocate for Clients: Meeting with clients (remotely or in person) to assess their cases and develop legal strategies.
- Legal Writing & Strategy: Drafting demand letters, pleadings, motions, and correspondence to opposing counsel.
- Case Investigation: Interviewing witnesses and gathering key evidence.
- Courtroom Advocacy: Arguing motions, attending status conferences, and representing clients in bench or jury trials.
Requirements
- A current license to practice law in Maryland.
- 0-3 years of civil litigation experience (new attorneys are encouraged to apply, and attorneys with more than 3 years of experience will also be considered).
- The ability to work at least one day per week at our Urbana, MD office.
- A strong interest in civil rights and/or employment law.
