Job Title: Entry-Level or Mid-Level Attorney
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced attorney to join our team at the Employment Law Center of Maryland.
About Us:
The Employment Law Center of Maryland is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit legal aid organization dedicated to fighting for Maryland workers. We provide comprehensive legal services to low-income individuals and families in need, focusing on employment law cases such as discrimination, wrongful termination, and wage theft.
Responsibilities:
- Advocate for Clients - Meet with clients remotely or in person to assess their cases and develop legal strategies.
- Legal Writing & Strategy - Draft demand letters, pleadings, motions, and correspondence to opposing counsel.
- Case Investigation - Interview witnesses and gather key evidence.
- Litigation & Discovery - Take and defend depositions, draft discovery requests and responses, and prepare for hearings.
- Courtroom Advocacy - Argue motions, attend status conferences, and represent clients in bench or jury trials.
Requirements:
- A current license to practice law in Maryland.
- 0-3 years of civil litigation experience (new attorneys are encouraged to apply, and attorneys with more than 3 years of experience will also be considered).
- The ability to work at least one day per week at our Urbana, MD office.
- A strong interest in civil rights and/or employment law.
