PLC Programmer
We are looking to hire a skilled PLC programmer to design and install programmable logic code, testing system efficiency, and providing operational support.
To ensure success as a PLC programmer, you should have excellent knowledge of machine mechanics, a logical approach, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. A skilled PLC programmer should be able to easily identify and design a robust program fit for any mechanical or electrical purpose.
Required skills and experience.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Automation, or a related technical field.
- Strong proficiency in PLC programming, particularly with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Schneider systems.
- Expertise in programming languages such as ladder logic, structured text, and function block programming.
- Experience with real-time system debugging, control loop tuning, and signal processing.
- In-depth understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet / IP).
- Ability to design and implement complex control architectures involving multiple PLCs, sensors, and actuators.
- Experience integrating PLCs with HMI systems.
- Understanding of application security best practices and regulations.
Typical duties and responsibilities
I&C Tech
Ability to read instrumentation drawings, trip panel drawings, logic diagrams and tables, PLC and DCS configuration
Supervise and manage outside contractors (both design and field construction), as necessary to complete project work
Respond to any major occurrence of plant breakdown where control and instrumentation expertise is required, carry out prompt inspection, analyse the fault, repair and re-commission affected plant and equipment so as to assure the minimum loss of production
Support plants with maintenance according to the Preventive Maintenance program
Supervise and / or perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, modification, installation and commissioning of control and instrumentation systems and equipment in Global Operations production facilities
Carry out plant modifications according to central design specification, submit any self generated design changes to specialist engineers for approval before implementation
Give advice and assistance to maintenance manager and maintenance staff on maintenance matters as requested, drawing when necessary upon the technical resources and expertise of specialist engineers
In association with the Maintenance Systems group, review and update the technical content of the preventive maintenance procedures and to recommend changes where improvements in safety, quality or economy may be effected
Provide technical support for the projects, equipment upgrades, commissioning of new plant and equipment
