The Financial Aid Coordinator oversees the administration of financial aid programs which may include the Federal Direct Loan program, Pell Grant program, state of Kansas (KBOR) scholarships and grants, or institutional awards. The coordinator is responsible for ensuring effective monitoring and review of areas within their scope of responsibility while interpreting policy and procedures, adjusting financial aid awards, and supporting compliance controls within office processes. In addition, the coordinator will meet with students and parents in person, over the phone, and virtually to advise on financial aid processes, make recommendations, and explain departmental policies/procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain familiarity with federal regulations and university policies pertaining to student loan, grant, and scholarship eligibility and administration.
- Interpret program policies and procedures and assist students, faculty, and staff with questions or concerns.
- Assist in verifying the accuracy of applicant information, making appropriate adjustments as necessary, while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with federal, state, and university policy and regulations.
- Host meetings with parents and students to discuss the financial aid process, award eligibility, possible exception for extenuating circumstances, and explain financial aid concepts.
- Train financial aid staff on areas of expertise.
- Use problem solving skills to resolve issues which may delay the disbursement of financial aid funds, which may include recommendations for process improvement or conducting student outreach to collect missing information.
- Communicate with other student services staff or administrators, guarantor agencies, other schools, students and/or parents to resolve data conflicts or report required information.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications:
- Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Business Administration, Business Management, or a related field, with a minimum of three years of related, professional experience.
- A Master's Degree is preferred, and may substitute for a portion of the required experience.

Previous experience working with the administration of financial aid or experience using Ellucian Banner, or similar information system technology, is preferred.
COMPENSATION:
- Salary: $19.00 - $19.71 hourly
- Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
