Empower Academy is seeking a full–time (40 hours per week) Program Director to provide support and advocacy for adults with developmental disabilities. This open position is for our new locations in Sacramento and El Dorado Hills, CA. Under the direction and general supervision of the Executive Management Team the Program Director will plan, direct and coordinate a multidisciplinary day program for adults with developmental disabilities and related impairments.
Summary of Job Duties:
- Ensure the name and image of Empower Academy is held in the highest light through effective program management and delegation.
- Ensure enrollment and ADA are maintained at the level defined in budget (minimum 90% ADA and 90% eligible participants).
- Thorough understanding of and compliance with all applicable regulations under Title 17 & 22 ensuring 100% compliance at all times.
- Serve as lead member of the program team; schedule and facilitate team meetings to develop participant ISP plans and goals, and review progress towards meeting goals.
- Work with staff to develop individual ISP plans and program curriculum that meets the needs of participants.
- Coordinate program schedule to ensure participants can participate in all activities identified in their ISP plans.
- Schedule and conduct meetings with staff and family members to discuss issues related to ISP plans, goals, and outcomes.
- Instruct participants in small groups in the performance of specific activities.
- Work with individual participants to assist with acquisition of specific skills and abilities.
- Ensure the staff team is trained in workplace safety and are familiar with the safety and health hazards as well as applicable laws, regulations and Empower Academy safety rules and policies. * Ensure that employees are trained in accordance with the Safety Program.
- Inspect, recognize, and evaluate workplace hazards on a continuing basis. * Develop methods for abating workplace hazards.
- Ensure that workplace hazards are abated in a timely and effective manner.
- Provide exceptional customer services, both internally and externally.
Program Planning, Management and Evaluation:
- Identify barriers to program success; identify and carry out logical steps to overcome barriers.
- Monitor program to ensure 100% compliance with state regulations (Title 17 & 22) required for licensing and vendorization and maintain current knowledge of standards and revisions to regulations.
- Submit quarterly and annual Program Evaluation data as required.
- Manage the annual budget for program, monitor program expenses and variances monthly.
- Research and develop new and/or improved programming opportunities.
- Work with staff to establish and monitor annual program goals and objectives.
- Review and submit requests for supplies, equipment, petty cash expenditures and other purchases to supervisor.
- Ensure staff completion and timely submission of all required documentation.
- Gather information, complete and submit paperwork necessary to receive reimbursement from Regional Center
- Review and approve monthly participant attendance record to submit to Regional Center * Review and approve bi-monthly staff and participant timesheets
- Frequently travel by auto in order to conduct business.
Supervision:
- Provide direct and indirect supervision of staff, interns and volunteers.
- Ensure all employment requirements are up to date.
- Interview, orient and provide on-going training to staff.
- Conduct performance appraisals in accordance with schedule.
- Conduct disciplinary actions and terminations as necessary and approved.
- Approve all schedules, vacation requests and time sheets.
- Ensure that staff are acting in compliance with CCL and DDS regulations governing the program. * Promote professional competence by encouraging staff to attend a minimum of one (1) continuing education course each year, relevant to participant caseload. Public Relations:
- Provide tours as needed to prospective participants and their Support Network
- Market and promote services to schools, professional, and community organizations.
- Give public presentations and market the program and services as appropriate.
- Assist Empower Academy staff, representatives of other agencies and general community to understand the issues related to persons with Developmental Disabilities.
- Network with staff from Department of Health Services, Regional Center and other agencies as required.
- Serve as participant advocate.
Job Requirements:
- Must be a minimum of 21 years old at the time of hire.
- Possession of a current certificate in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).*
- Possession of a current certificate in Standard First Aide (SFA).*
- Proof of clearance through the Department of Justice and the FBI via Live Scan*
- Proof of passing a pre-placement physical and back assessment.*
- Proof of negative TB test within the past twelve (12) months.*
- Current driver’s license and driving history with no moving violations in past 3 years (if employee will drive as a part of their position).
