Position Summary

The Compensation & Benefits Generalist plays a pivotal role in fostering a motivated and well-supported workforce at Empower. This position is integral to our commitment to people, service, quality, and innovation by ensuring that our compensation and benefits programs are competitive, transparent, and aligned with our values. Your work will directly contribute to creating an environment where employees feel valued and empowered to deliver their best, ultimately supporting our mission of enhancing access to quality, affordable medication.

 

In this role, you will participate in the processes associated with salary benchmarking and market analysis, supporting the development and administration of compensation policies and programs. By collaborating with People Operations and Partnering and leaders of the organization, you will help ensure consistent pay practices and assist in job evaluations and classifications to determine appropriate salary levels. Your efforts will ensure our compensation packages remain competitive and fair, fostering a culture of transparency and trust within Empower.

 

You will also assist in managing employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives, coordinating open enrollment periods and assisting employees with enrollment processes. Serving as the Tier II point of contact for employee benefits inquiries, you will ensure accurate benefits documentation and compliance with regulations. Additionally, your role will involve preparing compensation and benefits reports, supporting payroll processing, and assisting in compliance with labor laws and regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as the first point of contact for Job Description management including consultation with leaders, review of new and updated documentation and adherence to guidelines and standards.
  • Provides subject matter expertise in the Job Evaluation process as the first reviewer of new and updated job grading needs. Ensures the Job Evaluation process moves swiftly form Job Description completion to final evaluation.
  • Participates in the job evaluation processes associated with salary benchmarking and market analysis that supports the development of competitive compensation packages that help attain and retain top talent within the industry.
  • Assists in the implementation and administration of enterprise compensation policies and programs, including market salary adjustments, pay-for-performance periodic merit increases, short-term and long-term incentive pay structures, and all other total cash compensation initiatives.
  • Collaborates with People Operations and Partnering and leaders across the organization to ensure consistent and compliant pay practices, applying knowledge of current labor regulations and HRIS data analytics to guide strategy and drive actionable insights.
  • Assists in managing employee benefits programs, including group health insurance and voluntary benefit plans, 401K retirement plan, wellness initiatives, rewards and recognition programs, paid-time-off and other total rewards initiatives such as non-mandated employer sponsored leaves.
  • Coordinates open enrollment and new hire enrollment periods and benefits change rollout communication initiatives and provides guidance and support to employees during their enrollment windows.
  • Serves as the Tier II point of contact for employee benefits and compensation inquiries providing guidance and support to employees regarding concerns and grievances while embodying Empower Pharmacy’s company values and delivering exemplary customer service.
  • Ensures accurate timely benefits documentation and compliance with regulations in a multi-jurisdictional environment.
  • Maintains HRIS employee records related to compensation and benefits and produces ad-hoc reports for stakeholders.
  • Supports the accurate and timely processing of payroll and benefits deductions.
  • Assists in monitoring compliance with labor laws and regulations related to compensation and benefits.
  • Assists in preparing and filing of required regulatory reports, such as ACA and 5500 forms.
  • Helps develop and deliver training sessions and materials on compensation and benefits programs, including New Employee Onboarding.
  • Assists in creating and distributing communication materials related to compensation changes, benefits updates, and wellness programs.
  • Assists in the implementation of compensation and benefits strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Assists with the implementation of new benefits offerings by coordinating with 3rd party vendors and benefits brokers.
  • Participates in regular reviews and assessments of compensation and benefits programs, conducting internal audits of practices, as needed.
  • Supports senior management in designing incentive programs and other compensation initiatives.
  • Conducts preliminary market research for competitive compensation and benefits packages in the labor market.
  • Coordinates with external vendors and service providers for benefits administration evaluating vendor performance and managing vendor relationships to ensure on-going quality service.
  • Promotes employee satisfaction through fair and transparent compensation and benefits practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficient in interpreting and applying the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies. 
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Skills-Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or closely related discipline required.
  • Requires 2 years of general Human Resources experience at the Coordinator, Specialist or Generalist level. Experience working Compensation and Benefits strongly preferred.
