Position Summary
The Intern - Legal Associate will support Empower Pharmacy’s Legal Department, including the Legal Departments support to the Compliance and Government Affairs Departments in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will be an essential part of our team supporting regulatory and compliance issues, contract review, employment law, litigation matters (contract disputes, intellectual property disputes, and employment-related actions), and other legal matters. The internship is an excellent opportunity to develop foundational skills for a variety of legal practice areas.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Researches and drafts memoranda concerning federal and state pharmaceutical legal issues.
- Conducts research on current and pending legislation and generates accompanying memoranda.
- Monitors and becomes knowledgeable of pending litigation and associated milestones.
- Assists with contract drafting, review, and life cycle management.
- Attends various bar association events and court hearings.
- Attend client meetings, hearings, and other legal proceedings as needed.
- Assist in administrative tasks, such as organizing files, maintaining case databases, and scheduling meetings.
- Supports Compliance Team projects, events, and other activities as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. - Must be technically savvy and proficient in the Microsoft Office suite and LexisNexis.
- Skilled in legal analysis and writing on complex subjects.

Experience and Qualifications
- Actively pursuing a Juris Doctor degree.
- Maintains a GPA of 3.0 or greater.
