Job description:
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Senior Release Train Engineer (RTE) to lead and coordinate Agile Release Trains (ART) within our organization. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Agile frameworks, particularly the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), and possess excellent leadership and problem-solving abilities. The RTE will play a critical role in aligning teams to a common technological and business vision, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions while fostering an environment of continuous improvement and collaboration. Candidate needs to be in US timezone (preferably ET or CT) and able to travel to quarterly PI Planning events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and Lead Agile Release Train (ART) Processes: Oversee the ART process and execution, ensuring alignment, prioritization, and value delivery across different Agile teams
- Program Increment (PI) Planning: Facilitate PI planning readiness by preparing the vision and backlogs, conducting Pre- and Post-Planning meetings, and leading the PI Planning event
- Agile Coaching: Provide coaching and guidance to Scrum Masters, teams, and individuals on Agile practices, SAFe principles, and continuous improvement. Support the adoption and implementation of Agile methodologies and help teams identify and overcome challenges
- Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the ART. Facilitate retrospectives, encourage experimentation, and help identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, quality, and delivery
- Stakeholder Management: Engage with stakeholders, including business owners, customers, and executives, to understand their needs, provide updates on program progress, and manage expectations. Act as a liaison between the ART and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and effective communication
- Release Train Health: Monitor and assess the health of the release train. Track key performance indicators, identify areas for improvement, and work with the ART to address any challenges and optimize performance
- Servant Leadership: Serve as a servant leader, supporting and guiding teams, Scrum Masters, and Product Owners. Remove barriers and empower teams to effectively self-organize
Qualifications:
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Release Train Engineer or in a similar role within an Agile environment.
- Deep understanding of Agile frameworks, particularly SAFe and Lean Portfolio Management
- Excellent leadership, facilitation, and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
- Ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications:
- SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification.
- 3-5 years experience in coaching and mentoring Agile teams.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to communicate effectively with various levels of the organization.
