About the Role:
The School Based Mental Health Therapist will play a crucial role in supporting the emotional and psychological well-being of students within Harford County schools. This position involves providing direct therapeutic services to students, including individual and group therapy, to address various mental health issues. The therapist will collaborate with educators, parents, and other mental health professionals to create a supportive environment conducive to student success. Additionally, the role includes developing and implementing intervention strategies tailored to the unique needs of each student. Ultimately, the therapist's goal is to foster resilience and promote positive mental health outcomes among the student population.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
- Current licensure as a mental health professional (LMSW, LGPC, LCSW, LCSW-C, LCPC) in Maryland
- Experience working with children and adolescents in a therapeutic setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with school-based mental health services and educational systems.
- Experience in developing and implementing behavioral intervention plans.
- Bilingual skills in English and another language.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual and group therapy sessions for students experiencing mental health challenges.
- Collaborate with school staff, parents, and external mental health resources to develop comprehensive support plans.
- Assess students' mental health needs through evaluations and observations, and create tailored treatment plans.
- Provide crisis intervention and support during emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of students.
