Dismantlers perform different levels of Vehicle disassembling, identify and clean potential functioning parts for the purpose of company’s reselling.If you are good with your hands, have good experience working with cars, don’t mind getting dirty, and are looking to get a secure job with a large company, this is the opportunity for you!We Have Excellent Union Benefits and Opportunity for Advancement.Shift: 6AM - 2:30PM (subject to change)Pay Rate: $21 - $23/hrEssential Functions1st Class DismantlerVehicle Dismantler/Auto mechanic with more than 3 years’ experience. Ability to do the following:Identify and locate parts to remove on all makes and models of vehicles.Expertise in removing engines, transmissions and rear ends from all types of Vehicles.Ability to assist others and provide guidance on the location and removal of parts.Ability to make small repairs to dismantling equipment for maintenance and repair purposes. Repairs may include small fabrication/welding and small electrical work.Prepare engines, transmissions and rear ends for removal from the vehicle.Separate engines from transmission and sub frames.Prep engine and transmission for sale. Must be able to identify which wires can and cannot be cut. Must be able to take off the correct parts without damaging the transmission or engine.Must be able to identify and locate parts to remove on most major car makes and models.General Essential FunctionsWears required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) always during scheduled work shiftFollows all safety rules and keeps the supervisor informed of any potential safety risks.Keeps the direct supervisor informed of important and urgent issues in a daily basis.Perform other related duties as required and directed.Required Skills/Abilities:More than 3 years’ experience in the automobile industry is a plus.Ability and willingness to spend a significant part of the day in Personal Protective Equipment (i.e. Safety Boots) on the plant floor.Ability to maintain a record of good work attendance and reliability.Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience working on vehicles, construction, recycling or related industry is a plus.Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods walking wearing safety boots, including but not limited to walking within and to the office to the plant floor in a regular/daily basis.Must be able to work in all weather conditions. Position requires work inside and outside in all weather conditions.Must be able to traverse the entire facility.Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
