Job Summary
Under general direction of the Patient Registration Supervisor, performs registration process for all patients. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).
Working Conditions, Hazards and Physical Effort
Small work station area with above average levels of noise. Must be able to multi-task and work with frequent interruptions. High stress level. Often exposed to unpleasant odors, sights and sounds. The task of this job does involve a medium risk of exposure to blood, body fluids/tissue, disease, infection, assault and physical strain. Must be able to move or position 25 lbs. independently and have the physical ability to push patients in wheelchairs. Will work a varied schedule including nights, weekends and holidays. Overtime may occur on a rare occasion.
Contacts with Others
Has contact with patients, family members, support person, significant others, visitors, Associates, Physicians and other healthcare providers. Must be able to use professionalism and diplomacy in dealing with individuals when explaining processes, procedures, and clarifying information.
Minimum Qualifications or Equivalents
Education:High School Graduate or equivalent required.
Experience: Six (6) months minimum health care experience required. One year experience preferred.
EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Data entry and calculator skills required. Excellent communication skills a must. Uses personal terminals, copy machine and computer printers. Ability to type with accuracy and speed.
