Position Summary:
As a Technical Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the entire lifecycle of custom finishing machine projects. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and installation teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet client specifications. Your role will be critical in maintaining communication between internal teams, external vendors, and customers while driving technical excellence and project efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Execution: Develop comprehensive project plans that merge customer requirements with company goals through the full project lifecycle, from initial engineering and design to final installation and customer acceptance.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with the customer, engineering, manufacturing, service and supply chain teams to ensure smooth execution of project milestones.
- Technical Oversight: Ensure all machine designs meet customer specifications, industry standards, and performance expectations
- Timeline & Budget Management: Develop and track project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to meet deadlines and cost objectives.
- Risk Management: Identify potential project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively address issues that arise.
- Client & Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, providing regular updates and ensuring satisfaction.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain detailed project documentation, including technical specifications, change orders, and installation procedures.
- On-Site Coordination: Support and oversee machine installation, testing, and commissioning at client facilities when required.
- Continuous Improvement: Recommend process improvements to enhance project efficiency, product quality, and customer experience.
- Process Development: Analyze, plan and develop requirements and standards in reference to the project management process
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Communication Skills: Excellent ability to collaborate with engineers, customers, and vendors while effectively managing expectations.
- Problem-Solving Ability: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve technical and logistical challenges.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with CAD software, ERP systems (Epicor), and project management tools (such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar).
- Certifications (Preferred): PMP (Project Management Professional) or similar project management certification is a plus.
- Travel: Ability to travel occasionally for customer site visits, installations, and technical support as needed. (10-15%)
Education, Experience and Training:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 5 years of project management experience in industrial machinery, custom automation, or manufacturing equipment.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of printing, coating, and converting processes as well as custom machine design and integration.
- Project Management Expertise: Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects, balancing engineering, manufacturing, and client expectations.
