Under limited supervision, the Dental Billing Coordinator assists the revenue cycle team in processing and follow up with dental claims.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Verification of commercial dental insurance for private pay patients.
- Communicate with patients and or patient advocates dental coverage including but not limited to annual deductibles, exclusions and limitations.
- Review dental claims and patient ledgers for accuracy; ensure X-rays are clear and match documentation.
- Submit and follow up on dental claims for assigned market.
- Ability to build relationships with insurance carriers to get dental claims paid timely.
- Ability to read and interpret explanation of benefits and resolve any errors and or denials.
- Determine when claims must be appealed and follow up on the appeal.
- Work closely with dental and clinical practice managers regarding insurance carrier information and advising them of specific requirements.
- Auditing accounts for accuracy; resolve any discrepancies.
- Posting payments accurately and timely. Ensure receipts or statements are sent to patients or patient advocates.
- Process and understand daily, weekly and monthly reports.
- Answer incoming calls and provide superior customer service to patients and or patient advocates.
- Daily bank deposits.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and daily tasks.
- Comfortable making patient collections calls to reduce accounts receivable.
- Adhere to federal, state and local regulatory laws (including collection laws).
- Excellent communication, problem solving and computer skills.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education and or Experience:
- MUST have dental experience. Previous front desk dental experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of dental CDT codes.
- Proficient in Microsoft office.
- Carestack - practice management software a plus.
