The position is accountable for ensuring that effective internal communications strategies and processes exist so that employees understand the company’s business objectives and how they can contribute to the achievement of our overall vision, goals and objectives.
This role is responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of a variety of internal communications initiatives and events, ensuring that communications are timely, accurate, informative, tailored to their relevant audiences and consistent with those shared with external audiences. The incumbent acts as a trusted communications advisor to the executive team on internal communications matters.

This role is responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of a variety of internal communications initiatives and events, ensuring that communications are timely, accurate, informative, tailored to their relevant audiences and consistent with those shared with external audiences. The incumbent acts as a trusted communications advisor to the executive team on internal communications matters.
Communications
What you will do:
- Oversees the development and execution of an annual internal communications plan that aligns to the Business Unit’s strategic objectives.
- Supports the GDS executive team with strategies and tactics including written remarks, articles, presentations, and event delivery for utility-wide or BU-wide audiences.
- Works closely with the integration planning team and the communications leads in the US utilities to coordinate messaging, program launches and events.
- Evaluates/measures the effectiveness of messages and internal communications processes and vehicles. Develops and implements changes to internal communications priorities, processes and vehicles.
- Provides guidance on audience segmentation/appropriate internal communication tools to deliver information and gather feedback, including employees/people leaders/senior management.
- Functions as a go-to resource for content creators within the company, providing recommendations and sharing best practices.
- Oversees the coordination of large internal (virtual, hybrid, and in-person) events led by members of the executive team, coordinating with support functions and internal clients as needed.
- Supports the planning and coordination of senior leadership meetings, safety tours, informal Q&A sessions led by the Utility Leadership Team, podcasts, webcasts and other executive outreach.
- Provides leadership, coaching and succession planning for the Internal Communications team and influences coordinated Public Affairs strategies for GDS audiences.
- Supports the Business Unit when communications initiatives are rolled out from the corporate office; participates in enterprise communications coordination meetings and change efforts; ensures content on our corporate intranet helps employees across the enterprise understand the work of our Business Unit.
- Supports crisis communications and participates in the on-call media rotation.
- Excellent communications skills (written and verbal) a must.
- University degree in public relations, journalism or a similar field.
- 7 or more years of relatable experience
- Ability to work independently, prioritize a fast paced workload, and meet tight deadlines.
- Prior experience working with logistics planning preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Meticulous, fast learner, self-starter, strong organizational skills and great teammate a must.

- Professional communication accreditation would be an asset (IABC-ABC or equivalent)

- Some overtime and travel (15-20%) will be required as part of this role.
