Position Overview:
Encompass seeks an innovative, compassionate, and strategic CEO with a passion for serving vulnerable populations. Combining inspirational leadership and sophisticated management abilities, the CEO will lead the organization in fulfilling its mission to support Santa Cruz County’s most underserved communities, building on our legacy of dignity-driven care, strategic partnerships, and financial sustainability. Reporting to the Board of Directors, CEO will work collaboratively with an executive team which includes the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Operating Officer (COO), Chief Program Officer (CPO), and Director of HR to grow an impactful organization with a $35 million annual budget, and 400 employees.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Leadership & Vision
-Champion Encompass’s mission, values, and culture across all organizational levels and ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
-Collaborate with the Board to set, communicate, and achieve strategic goals that respond to community needs.
-Inspire a business-oriented, professional, results-driven environment across the organization.
2.Program Development & Oversight
-Ensure the quality, effectiveness, and growth of Encompass’s behavioral health, housing, family support, and early childhood programs.
-Lead efforts to innovate and expand programs that address emerging social and health-related issues in the community.
3.Strategic Partnerships, Fundraising & Advocacy
-Develop strong partnerships with community leaders, governmental agencies, healthcare providers, and funders to advance Encompass’s goals and secure sustainable funding.
-Develop and lead fundraising strategies to diversify and grow revenue streams
-Act as the primary advocate and spokesperson for Encompass, championing community-focused policies that support underserved populations.
4.Financial & Operational Management
-Oversee the organization’s financial health, including budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation to maintain Encompass’s long-term sustainability.
-Collaborate with the CFO to ensure transparent financial reporting, compliance, and efficient management of resources.
-Implement best practices in nonprofit management, focusing on service delivery, compliance, technology, and financial integrity.
5.Community Engagement & Public Relations
-Serve as the face of Encompass within the community, enhancing visibility and building Encompass’s reputation as a leader in community health.
-Engage with diverse community groups and actively listen to stakeholders to adapt services to meet evolving needs.
6.Board Development & Governance
-Collaborate with the Board of Trustees to foster effective governance, including strategic planning, organizational oversight, and performance evaluation.
-Keep the Board informed on critical issues, opportunities, and achievements, enabling informed decision-making.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MPA, MBA, MSW, or related) preferred.
• A minimum of 10 years in executive leadership, ideally within nonprofit, healthcare, or social service organizations.
• Proven success in leading complex, multi-program, multi-faceted organizations.
• Proven success in strategic planning, financial management, business development, fundraising and resource development, and team development within a complex organization.
• Skilled in fostering cross-sector partnerships and navigating government funding structures.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusivity, and advocacy for marginalized communities.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication (internal and external) skills, with the ability to actively listen, empathize, and build authentic relationships. Possesses a high degree of self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and approachability, fostering trust and collaboration among diverse stakeholders
• Proven ability to effectively lead and foster collaboration within a hybrid C-suite environment, seamlessly managing both in-person and virtual executive teams to drive strategic alignment and achieve organizational goals.

Salary : $180,000 - $190,000
