At Encompass Community Supports, our full-time employees work 37.5 hours weekly.
Our Community Support Specialist supports clients with living skills; providing personal care to clients; performing light housekeeping; providing transportation; maintaining all necessary documentation.
SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports clients with daily living skills and provides assistance and supervision to clients; provides crisis intervention services.
- Provide assistance with environmental and home management including housekeeping, health care, transportation, home management, nutrition and shopping for clients.
- Assists with budgeting; maintains doctor’s appointment schedule and prescription refills; dispenses medication as directed by physician.
- Monitors and supports tasks from client-specific service plan.
- Serves as liaison between roommates, emergency workers, and other community resources; confers with medical and mental health providers to ensure client receives appropriate care.
- Motivates client toward self-sufficiency and esteem while respecting privacy and dignity of client and exercising considerable tact and independent judgment in dealing with client and client’s family.
- Supports clients in demonstrating independence, self-advocacy and coping skills.
- Performs related tasks as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of basic personal health care and home management methods.
- Knowledge of behavior management and crisis intervention.
- Supports clients with Mental Illness and disabilities.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, landlords, community resource providers and associates.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of experience providing direct behavioral health services to adults with mental illness preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Valid Virginia driver’s license
- Employment with Encompass Community Supports is contingent upon the successful completion of our background check process (criminal, DMV, education, drug screening, reference check, DSS, OIG and SAM).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of housing quality standards
- Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
