Overview
The ideal candidate for the Project Engineer position is someone with a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Field or Project Engineer in the dredging industry and obtains a Bachelor of Science in Construction or Engineering or a similar field of study. The Project Engineer must have the skills to fully manage all day-to-day operations in the field, prioritize the task at hand, and be a strong communicator. He or she can lead higher-level client meetings. The Project Engineer must be efficient in most of the tasks required, often training/assisting lower-level engineers while keeping up with their own project obligations. Lastly, the Project Engineer must have the knowledge to evaluate bid projections versus actual production. Must be a self-starter and initiate tasks outside a typical PE role (assisting with project procurement, drafting & executing submittals, etc.)
The Project Engineer is an integral part of the dredge project management team. They are required to be certified as Dredge Quality Control and Dredge Quality Management through the US Army Corps of Engineers. This position requires technical expertise, detailed reporting, and proficiency in specialized programs like AutoCAD and Hypack. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hydrographic surveying and be capable of driving project success in complex and dynamic settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing work plans and schedules for dredging activities.
- Support the design and layout of dredging areas using AutoCAD.
- Participate in pre-construction meetings, pre-dredging surveys, and assessments to meet project requirements.
- Field/marine operations
- Conduct hydrographic surveys to measure seabed levels and monitor dredging progress using Hypack.
- Support dredging operations on-site to ensure tasks are performed safely and effectively.
- Troubleshooting DQM and survey equipment, including calibration and maintenance.
- Analyze survey and operational data to adjust dredging activities as needed.
What to Expect
- The water is your office view. This is a marine/waterway-based position, and the client requires the Engineers to be on-site (dredge-based) throughout the duration of the shift.
- 20 paid weeks off a year. The schedule is 17 days on followed by 11 days off. During your routinely scheduled 11 days off, you will receive your predetermined compensation. We are transparent; once we provide an offer of employment, your compensation will be explained in detail in the pre-offer letter.

Qualifications
- CQM Certified and CQCSM Experience with US Army Corps of Engineers
- Dredge cut and fill planning and management.
- Proficient in the fundamentals of dredge production
- Proficient in collecting and processing hydrographic and topographic survey data to be used to calculate volumes of materials removed or placed.
- Proficient in with AutoCAD, Trimble, and Hypack software
- Experience with the US Army Corps of Engineer's Resident Management System (RMS) software.
- Experienced with preparation of submittals and transmittals to client.
- Experience with Dredge Quality Management (DQM)

Minimum Requirements
- A Bachelor of Science in Construction or Engineering, or similar field of study, or 5 years of direct experience can be applied in lieu of education requirements.
- CQM Certified and CQCSM Experience with US Army Corps of Engineers
- 2 years of Field or Project Engineer experience
- Must have reliable transportation, a car allowance is provided.
- Ability to proactively identify issues and formulate solutions; overcome obstacles to find solutions to problems; includes the ability to work independently.
- Must be able to write procedures, policies, reports, and correspondence.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as contractual requirements, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures and policies.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to interact and form strong working relationships with individuals from all disciplines.

Schedule and Pay Frequency
• Weekly pay, one week in arrears
• 17 days on, with 11 days off
• Standard work hours are typically 12 hours daily; however, adjustments may be made depending on the operational requirements.
