RN COMPLIANCE DIRECTOR
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for oversight of regulatory compliance and clinical aspects of communities in assigned region. Provides education and support to management team in relation to regulatory compliance of the communities.
REPORTS TO:
Regional Vice President of Operations / Regional Wellness Director
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Management
- Adheres to and conveys philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality and a home-like environment for the Residents.
- Maintains regulatory compliance requested by management and submits reports as required
- Ensures compliance of resident and staff Mantoux tests.
- Audits clinical records and reports concern RVPO and/or COO
- Works closely with Wellness Directors and RVPO’s to identify regulatory compliance; follows up as needed and communicates same appropriately.
- Coordinates ancillary services for complex health care needs with the Wellness Director as assigned.
- Observes all work, safety and administrative rules.
- Adheres to all established policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to procedures for fire, life safety, disaster, security, work safety and other emergency situations.
- Plans, analyzes and evaluates the needs of residents and reports needs appropriately
- Assures infection control procedures are known/followed by staff.
B. Administrative
- Reads staff communications and maintains familiarity with other resident records as required.
- Assures accurate transcription of physician orders into treatment/medical record.
- Conducts quality assurance checks and verifies regulatory compliance issues are identified and rectified
- Reviews resident service records, treatments, and medication books to assure quality of care.
- Verifies physician orders, move in / move out information and initiates appropriate action/follow up.
- Reviews the ordering of medications from pharmacy to ensure compliance with policies.
- Develops clinical policies and procedures with the coordination of RVPO, RWD and COO and implements effectively.
- Assures proper records are maintained.
- Tracks incident junction and assists RVPO and RWD to develop programs to minimize risk.
- Oversees companies clinical practices are in regulatory compliance and use of best practices that are recommended.
- Assists Administrators and Wellness Directors with state reporting and meeting guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
- Works with Administrators and Wellness Directors to correct issues identified in audits of records by completing assessments, incident reports, documentation, etc.
C. Staff Development
- Identifies resident and staff training needs.
- Conducts training as assigned and mandated by regulatory requirements.
- Attends seminars to stay up to date on changes in requirements and best practices and relay pertinent information to the COO for policy revisions and employee training.
D. Resident Services
- Verifies that nursing assessment(s) and individual service plans of residents are completed by Wellness Director and Administrative staff accurately and timely.
- Evaluates health emergencies and determines emergency medical measures taken regarding resident care.
- Assists Administrators and Wellness Directors in completing negotiated risk agreements as deemed appropriate
- Conducts assessments, negotiates service plans, develops service schedules and updates service information as indicated by Resident need. Addresses physical, social, spiritual and psychological needs of residents.
- Ensures Residents are appropriately assessed on a timely basis and charged in accordance with that assessment
- Assures quality of Resident services
- Assures a high degree of customer satisfaction. Works with Wellness Directors to promptly investigate complaints and reports findings and appropriate recommendations to the Administrator. Ensures follow-up communication occurs to the complainant and that substantiated complaints are resolved to reasonable satisfaction of complainant.
- Ensures compliance with all rules and regulations related to Resident care (i.e. HIPAA, State Regulations, OSHA, etc.)
- Maintains a professional demeanor with all Residents and their loved ones.
- Evaluates health emergencies and determines emergency medical measures taken regarding resident care.
- Completes requested forms to ensure continuity of care.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- Willingness to adhere to assisted living principles in providing services.
- Ability/willingness to perform all position responsibilities adequately.
- Ability to demonstrate effective training skills.
- Ability to utilize and apply basic management principles.
- Ability to recognize and communicate problems effectively.
- Ability to relate to the public, Residents, families, Employees and other professionals appropriately.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and provide information as requested and required.
- Ability to communicate proficiently in English, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work flexible hours and days (including holidays, weekends) to meet the requirements of the job.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, 30 pounds regularly.
- Maintains car in good working order, current driver’s license in good standing and auto insurance meeting company minimums is current.
- Maintains nursing license in good standing
- Maintains regulatory training requirements to work in licensed community
- Is free of non-treated communicable disease.
- Ability to perform assigned tasks in a neat, thorough and timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Available to travel 50%-60% within the state of WI
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Registered Nurse with a minimum of at least one year in long-term care setting, home health or geriatric nursing in a similar position. Knowledge of Wisconsin CBRF and RCAC regulations (DHS 83 and DHS 89). Rehabilitation and restorative experience are helpful.
EDUCATION:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; current Registered Nursing License in the state in which you are employed. Attendance at mandatory in-service training. Meet continuing education requirements on job classification and position.
