Encyclopædia Britannica is searching for a talented Motion Graphics Artist and Video Editor to join our editorial video team of animators, editors, and scriptwriters. This role will specialize in two specific verticals: Britannica Money and Britannica’s social media platforms. Collaboration with those verticals’ stakeholders will be a key element in the role’s success.
The ideal candidate enjoys taking projects from start to finish, finding excitement in each step of the video production process with the ability to explain difficult concepts in an engaging way. While motion graphics editing is their priority, they’re comfortable and interested in cutting together footage from a live shoot. This candidate should have prior experience working on social content or deep understanding of the latest social trends. They understand that while editing can be a solitary practice, collaboration is key to their success. We are in search of an artistic visualizer, a master of timing, and a passion for educational content. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The ideal candidate has the ability to:
- Animate and design 2D and occasionally 3D elements
- Confidently edit stock and live video footage in multiple aspect ratios (16x9, 1x1, 9x16)
- Conceptualize visuals from scripts and transform text into motion with short turnaround times
- Understand social media trends and comedic timing, as well as the importance of appealing to online audiences in a timely manner
- Work alongside writers, producers, and subject matter experts regarding the look, style, and level of detail required for each production
- Foster a genuine interest in educational content, with topics including finance, history, science, and art
- Complete other duties as assigned
SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in animation, graphic design, video production, fine arts, or journalism preferred
Experience:
- 1 to 3 years work experience, preferably in a production environment
Skills/Knowledge:
- Strong visual literacy. Confidently uses Adobe Premiere Pro, AfterEffects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and other Adobe Creative Cloud products as needed. Experience with 3D animation and Cinema 4D is a plus. A good understanding of film theory or production, excellent storytelling abilities, and familiarity with stock sites and rights management are appreciated.

Salary : $50,000 - $65,000
