Job Summary:
The Medical Record Clerk compiles, verifies, and files medical/dental records of students and compiles statistics for use in reports and surveys, prepares folders and maintains records of new students. The Clerk reviews contents of students' medical record folders, assembles into standard order, and files according to established procedure, reviews records to insure presence of required reports and physicians' signatures, and routes incomplete records to appropriate personnel for completion or prepares reports of incomplete records.
Duties:
- Organizes work by reading and routing correspondence; collecting information; initiating telecommunications.
- Maintains department schedule and an accurate calendar of pertinent events and information.
- Completes requests by greeting students, staff, and guests, in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquiries.
- Prepares reports by collecting information and strictly maintains student confidentiality as directed.
- Operate office equipment as needed.
- Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
- Maintains department logs and ensures the appropriate filing of student records both current and past.
- Models professionalism and mentors students encouraging excellent employability skills.
- Participates in staff training and ensures organization, cleanliness, and sanitation of work area while observing established safety practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned within the individual’s scope and capabilities.

Experience: One year of clerk training experience required, and medical records experience preferred.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent general education degree (GED) required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid State Drivers’ License.
