Knoxville specialist office seeking a full time Accounting and Human Resources assistant. We are privately owned and offer excellent hours in a positive, supportive work environment. Lunch is provided Monday-Thursday. We are centrally located in beautiful Dowell Springs area of Knoxville, TN. This is not a remote position.
You will report to the Accounting and Human Resources manager as an essential support to the finance and human resource aspects of the practice. Payroll, accounting, and/or human resource experience a plus. The successful candidate will possess superior communication skills, pay close attention to details, and work independently. This position requires the individual to maintain strict confidentiality requirements. Experience with maintaining Kronos or UKG a plus.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform, manage, and facilitate the onboarding and termination process with new hires and parting employees.
- Perform Work Eligibility Benefits Orientation for new hires.
- Provide information to new hires regarding insurance plan options, retirement plan, and company policies.
- Maintain personnel records for all employees.
- Maintain the records retention for the Human Resources and Accounting department.
- Update the Uniform, Dental, and Education allowance worksheets in Excel.
- Work in and maintain employee information in Employee Navigator, UKG, insurance carriers, and the retirement plan.
- Support internal and external HR related inquiries or requests, as directed.
- Maintain ongoing communications with new hires through the hiring process.
- Participate in the processing of payroll in UKG.
- Provide support to HR manager and employees during open enrollment and ensuring the completion of benefit documentation.
- Participate in processing of remote deposits, refund checks, and accounts payable.
- Provide support to Accounting and HR Manager, as directed.
Successful candidate should possess the following skills:
- Experience with Kronos or UKG, Employee Navigator, and employee benefit plans
- Understand basic accounting concepts. Have general knowledge of business practices. Possess problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Intermediate proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office products.
- Basic to intermediate understanding of Federal and State Laws associated with employment practices.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
- Excellent communication skills
- Understand the need to provide accurate information and pay close attention to details when performing the duties of the position.

- Patience and ability to navigate difficult situations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid state driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Basic computer skills
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications or experience:
- 5 years of payroll, accounting, and/or human resource experience
- Experience with maintaining Kronos or UKG, QuickBooks and/or Employee Navigator
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience working in a medical office or hospital environment a plus.
- Associate degree in accounting, business or related field
