Description
The CNC Operator I will set up, check routine programs, operate and adjust the CNC machining equipment, a manual mill and other fabrication equipment. Uses precision measuring devices to check parts for quality according to drawings. Performs all fabrication and assembly work in a manner consistent with Enercon’s quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Sets up CNC mills, checks programs, operates, and adjusts to perform machining operations.
- Completes milling, drilling, and cutting tasks on the CNC or manual mill, while also performing general fabrication work such as shearing, punching, bending, and other tasks in a timely manner according to work order deadlines.
- Maintains tools in good working order, reports any issues to other operators or supervisors, and keeps the work area clean and organized.
- Reads blueprints and follows instructions to ensure parts meet specifications and are of quality.
- Performs basic assembly tasks, ensuring proper fit and function.
- Assists with inspecting incoming and outgoing parts to ensure quality standards are met and reports non-conforming parts to other operators or supervisors.
- Proactively monitors fabrication department inventory and communicates any shortages to other operators or supervisors.
- Records labor and quantities completed into the ERP system following standard procedures.
- Works cross-functionally with supervisors, operators, and other departments to ensure quality standards are met and production schedules are adhered to.
- Follows all safety protocols and immediately reports any safety concerns or issues.
- Assists with other tasks as directed by supervisor to support production needs.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of experience as a machinist or operating CNC equipment.
- Knowledge of general hand tool use and stationary machinery including drill press, iron worker, saws, and manual vertical mill.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints.
- Ability to perform work independently or with minimal supervision.
- Ability to read measuring devices, both in English and Metric.
- Ability to perform work while standing or stooping for long periods of time, and to perform lifting of up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Communicates effectively with a wide range of individuals.
- Basic computer knowledge.
