- We’re seeking a Vice President to lead the Power Supply practice in our Research & Innovation (R&I) group. The VP will be responsible for all 3 pillars of the R&I mission within the Power Supply sector: (1) convening and managing relationships with the relevant operating leaders in our global corporate partner network, (2) developing proprietary market insights that make us better investors and help our partners see around corners, and (3) supporting the commercialization and growth of technologies in the EIP portfolio.
- The VP and their team will cover: nuclear, geothermal, wind, solar, storage, gas generation, and power market operations, among other related topics. They’ll engage with a coalition of dozens of leading utilities such as Southern Company, Xcel Energy, Fortis, and Duke Energy and support a portfolio of leading innovators such as Form Energy, Zap Energy, and Powin.
- This is a multifaceted role for a multifaceted person. We’re looking for an insatiably curious, analytically-minded candidate with excellent relationship and communication skills; commercial savvy; the ability to operate in a chaotic environment with competing priorities; and deep knowledge and passion for the power vertical.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
Generate sector research & insight
- Lead market analysis on a wide variety of topics – synthesizing intel from primary and secondary sources to generate insight that’s simply unavailable anywhere else
- Develop market landscapes of investable target companies and build theses around the most attractive opportunities
- Identify opportunities for emerging technology to have a transformational impact on our corporate partners’ businesses
Engage our corporate partners
- Lead executive roundtables with system planners and asset developers across our strategic partner consortium
- Brief utility and adjacent c-suites on the key emerging trends in power supply technology and markets
- Work hand in hand with partners on building business cases and deployment pathways to get transformational technologies scaled
Collaborate with our deal teams
- Leverage your network and market research to source new investment opportunities
- Support diligence efforts by facilitating feedback from the experts in our corporate partner network and executing in-house market analysis
- Present analyses and perspective to investment committee to drive go / no-go decisions
Help our portfolio companies succeed
- Share actionable insight with our portfolio on market dynamics & opportunities
- Advise CEOs, CROs, and Product Leads on their product roadmaps & go-to-market strategy
- Build and support a robust pipeline of commercial opportunities between our portfolio companies and our corporate partner network. Leverage enterprise sales expertise and direct relationships to help de-risk and close deals faster
- Build our portfolio’s brand and relationships in the broader energy industry ecosystem
- 10 years of experience in market analysis; management consulting; corporate strategy; business development; utility operations; or other relevant fields
- Passion for and prior experience in the power supply sector. Broad exposure across generating technologies a plus.
- A strong personal network in the power supply sector
- Excellent analytical skills and capability to develop and assess complex business plans
- Expertise driving large organizations toward consensus-based decisions (i.e. enterprise sales or similar)
- Great public speaking and facilitation skills, executive presence
- A demonstrated ability to learn new subsectors quickly and add value in an environment where they are not always the deepest expert in the room
- An independent mindset and intellectual curiosity
- An ability to self-direct and ruthlessly prioritize
- A proven track record of working effectively on a team and being a good teammate
