Team is responsible for reviewing Incident, Accident, and Death (IAD) reports submitted in the Medicaid/AHCCCS portal for our members. If the IAD indicates and adverse outcome or possibility of adverse outcome, we investigate the allegations to determine if the provider is providing the appropriate care. The investigator may use all available resources, including medical records, policy, best practices, and AZ statutes – researching these areas when appropriate for the case.

Behavioral Health Case Manager Job Description
Team is responsible for reviewing Incident, Accident, and Death (IAD) reports submitted in the Medicaid/AHCCCS portal for our members. If the IAD indicates and adverse outcome or possibility of adverse outcome, we investigate the allegations to determine if the provider is providing the appropriate care. The investigator may use all available resources, including medical records, policy, best practices, and AZ statutes – researching these areas when appropriate for the case.
- This position will be assigned cases and will carry their own caseload, tracking due dates of 30-60 dates from the date assigned, to ensure timely completion and submission of investigation to AHCCCS.
- Expectation is that the individual contributor communicates concerns or questions and manage their caseload appropriately with some autonomy.
- First day will be and first weeks will include mentor shadowing before any cases are assigned to the individual. We ramp up the caseload with general caseload being 3-5 new cases per week.
- Requires strong clinical judgment and curiosity
- Fun team environment and open communication along with weekly “coffee chat” to just “hang out” with the team online and chat about non work areas and biweekly 1:1 with supervisor for support
- This is great for someone with UM or clinical experience
- Candidates Must reside in the Phoenix, AZ area
- Must be licensed in AZ as a LMSW, LCSW, or LPC
- 1 year of Behavioral Health experience
- 1 years of previous experience in the managed care / healthcare field required
- Requires strong clinical judgment and curiosity
- Strong writing skills (for reports)
- Good MS Office skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 year Background in Managed Care
- Quality experience
- Bilingual candidates
- Familiarity and experience working with Medicare or Medicaid plans
- Degree
