Construction Project Accountant
Energy Talent Search is partnering with a well-established construction services company to find a skilled Construction Project Accountant to join their team. This role is based in Kingsford, Michigan, near the Michigan-Wisconsin border, and plays a critical role in managing financial operations, project cost controls, and budgeting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage financial reporting and cost tracking for multiple construction projects.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop budgets, track costs, and ensure financial accuracy.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, including revenue forecasts, profitability assessments, and variance reports.
- Process and review accounts payable, receivables, and project-related financial transactions.
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial close processes, ensuring accuracy in reconciliations.
- Provide audit support by preparing financial records and responding to compliance inquiries.
- Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to support financial planning and business decision-making.
- Identify potential financial risks and recommend strategies to improve project costs efficiency.
- Work closely with internal teams to align financial operations with business objectives.

Qualifications & Skills Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 7 years of accounting / finance experience, preferably in a construction or project-based environment. Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and project cost accounting. Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., JDE, SAP) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Work Environment On-site, five days a week at the company’s Kingsford, Michigan office. Office-based role with financial reporting, budgeting, and project accounting duties. Regular interaction with finance, project management, and operations teams.
Salary : $90,000 - $100,000
