Marketing Crude Oil Analyst

Position Summary
Support the Crude Oil Marketing efforts for Chord Energy, responsibilities include fundamental and ad hoc analytics, revenue recognition/pricing review, organization of crude oil marketing contracts, and provide support and back up to crude oil scheduling. This position will report to the Director, Crude Marketing and is located in downtown Houston, TX. Hybrid work schedule is an option for remote work on Mondays and Fridays. Level and salary commensurate with experience.
Essential Job Functions
  • Provide fundamental market analysis with macro supply/demand models, production forecasting, and product flows.
  • Support monthly Volume and Revenue Recognition Process in conjunction with Accounting.
  • Monitor and document Contract compliance.
  • Prepare summary Contract Briefs of all Crude Oil Marketing Contracts.
  • Back up and support for nominating and scheduling crude oil, including monitoring volumes available for sale and tracking wellhead & pipeline imbalances.
  • Develop reporting tools for data analysis.
  • Prepare Marketing presentations and reports.
  • Contract Administration project research and analysis.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-4 years relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of oil markets / marketing / product movement / agreements.
  • Strong analytical, spreadsheet and organizational skills.
  • Attention to details and timely completion of required tasks.
  • Flexible to adapt to new situations quickly; willingness to assume increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with various departments and seek out information and processes.
  • Ability to properly access and prioritize multiple concurrent projects.
  • Effective communicator with good oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter with strong initiative and positive attitude.
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to Oil and Gas Marketing a plus.
  • Ability to perform new project research and economic analysis.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Excel modeling and forecasting methodology.
  • Ability to think and plan strategically and provide new solutions to the crude oil overall marketing process.
  • Ability to seek out alternative methods, generate new ideas, recognize opportunities and technology to improve business function.
