Shipping Lead

Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to lead the workflow in the shipping environment of ECS. The primary objective of this role is to maximize company resources while supporting customers through product preparation and on-time shipments. This position will work on various continuous improvement projects to help the facility improve operations. This position is a working lead role, as they will still be responsible for shipping products. The Shipping Lead has no direct reports and reports to the Director of Production.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Be an expert in ECS’s shipping methods and own the process, providing leadership to team members
• Master the order fulfilment system, including international documentation, etc.
• Motivate employees to enhance order handling velocity while maintaining high standards
• Assign tasks to team members and provide direction to follow in carrying out assigned tasks
• Monitor team members in the course of their work to ensure that they comply with the standards of operation, efficiency, quality, and safety
• Check finished orders to ensure that quality and industry standards are met before they are declared ready for shipment
• Assist in creating work schedule for specialists and ensure that it is adhered to
• Evaluate and troubleshoot equipment used in the department for safety and functionality
• Train new employees and coach existing employees on shipping operations
• Works with other functional groups to ensure successful problem solving and project completion
• Exhibits a spirit of continuous improvement in all areas
• Work as liaison between team members and Management to create healthy communication

Required Skills/Qualifications:

· Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal

· Competent in the use of Microsoft Excel and Outlook

· Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills. Able to understand complex issues and provide appropriate, effective solutions

· Strong ability to assemble & analyze data from various systems to get to opportunity/root cause

· Anticipates internal customer needs accurately and quickly establishes creditability with internal customers

· Proven success as a team member, collaborating, cross-functionally, and participating in diverse thinking

· Ability to achieve goals through influencing others

· Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment

· Must have the ability to effectively handle multiple tight timeline situations

· Knowledge of how to collect data to negotiate effectively

Education and Experience:

• HS Diploma or equivalent – required
• Three years’ experience in warehouse/shipping environment – required

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job in the Plant or Warehouse, the employee can be exposed to noise. The noise level is usually moderate. Must have reliable means of transportation to allow flexible work hours as needed.

· Frequently required to stand, walk, climb ladders/steps, and sit

· Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear

· Frequently required to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods

· Use a computer keyboard with mouse for long periods of time

· Occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds

· Must be able to be certified as a forklift/fork truck driver

· Must be able to use all material handling equipment typical of a shipping operation

· All of the above could occur in high or low temperatures involving wind and/or precipitation

Travel:

· Minimal local travel may be required occasionally
