What are the responsibilities and job description for the Crash Simulation Engineer position at Engineering Technology Associates, Inc?
What you get to do:
- Guide design efforts using CAE tools.
- Perform full vehicle frontal, side, and rear crash simulations according to FMVSS, USNCAP, and IIHS standards using Ls Dyna.
- Utilize pre-processing tools such as ANSA and HYPERMESH to create and debug full vehicle crash models.
- Post-process crash simulation results using META or HYPERWORKS.
- Provide design improvement recommendations based on simulation results.
- Analyze and optimize solutions by performing several full vehicle crash simulation iterations.
- Participate in component and vehicle testing, correlating CAE results with test data.
- Apply methods like DOE/DFSS to optimize design.
- Create and present reports summarizing simulation results and improvements.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing teams, and suppliers to achieve desired vehicle performance.
What you bring to the Team:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent program, master’s degree preferred.
- 5 - 8 years of experience in performing full vehicle crash simulations.
- Experience with using Ls Dyna, ANSA, META, HYPERWORKS and PRIMER
- Knowledge of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, USNCAP and IIHS
- Knowledge of optimization tools and techniques.
- Knowledge of applying engineering fundaments in the development
- Ability to work independently from start to end
- Strong oral and verbal communication skills
- Act as a team player and problem solver
- Experience with correlation of CAE and Test results
- Experience with FEA modeling of long fiber composite components is preferred
- Experience on development of BOF body structure is preferred
