English, Lucas, Priest and Owsley, LLP (ELPO Law) is looking for an experienced billing clerk to join our Accounting Group.
ELPO Law has served Bowling Green and the surrounding areas of the Commonwealth of Kentucky for over 50 years as the largest, full-service law firm in the region.
The Billing Clerk will be responsible for certain aspects of billing and accounts receivable in a legal office environment. The clerk will ensure that all billable time and expenses are accurately recorded, prepared, and submitted according to client agreements and firm policies. The role requires an understanding of legal billing systems, attention to detail, and effective communication with attorneys and clients.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process client invoices in accordance with the firm’s billing policies, retainer agreements, and client preferences.
- Review time entries, billing narratives, and expenses submitted by attorneys to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Assist attorneys with time entry and billing questions or issues.
- Maintain and update client billing data in the firm’s billing system.
- Assist with mid-month, monthly and annual billing cycles to ensure timely completion.
- Assist with electronic billing and monitoring of adjustments and appeals.
- Process credit card payments, checks and other forms of payment.
- Communicate effectively with Controller, attorneys and clients regarding billing issues, payment discrepancies and/or adjustments.
- Monitor accounts receivable and work with Controller and CFO to resolve any outstanding balances.
- Cross train in multiple areas of accounting department for backup coverage including but not limited to accounts payable and trust disbursements.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Previous experience in legal billing or a related field (1 to 3 years preferred).
- Experience in Juris/Juris Suite preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
