Enigma Aerospace is seeking a Hardware Engineering Intern to support the
development of our autonomous and unmanned, heavy-lift, long-range cargo UAS. This is an opportunity to join a fast-moving, venture-backed aerospace startup and contribute to real-world UAS design, development, test, and flight for our unique aircraft system. You will work closely with our engineering leadership team and design partners to develop, simulate, test, and document electrical, propulsion, structural, and integration for our UAS system.

Responsibilities
• Assist in fixed wing UAS integration, ground testing, and system-level checkout
• Support lab setup, test stand buildout, and equipment calibration
• Plan, execute, analyze, and document sub-system testing to include fuel-burning engine, flight controls hardware, avionics, and communications testing
• Perform and support flight testing operations and execution
• Analyze and document flight testing to inform system improvements
• Collaborate across engineering teams to support integration of flight control
software with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments
• Embody a proactive and optimistic approach, bringing a can-do attitude to the workplace every day, fostering a positive and dynamic work environment
Desired Qualifications
• Pursuing a BS, MS or higher degree in a relevant engineering field
• Prior technical experience in fixed-wing UAS, aerospace commercial, and/or DOD industries
• Project work or hands-on experience in engine testing, avionics, or aircraft/UAS communications systems
• Hands-on experience with automobile engines, wire harnessing, instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or C/C
• Knowledge of UAS sub-systems from avionics to structures, mission software, and systems integration
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must be eligible to work in the US
Great to have Qualifications and Skills
• Pursing a MS or higher degree in relevant engineering field
• Hands-on experience designing, testing, and flying fixed-wing UAS or RC aircraft
• Excellent understanding of fuel-based engines and hands-on experience working with them
• Experience with CAD or schematic capture software
• Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Notion or other collaborative development tools
• Familiarity with ROS, PX4, QGroundControl, ArduPilot, or similar open-source
autopilot systems
• You are an ambitious and self-motivated individual who eagerly approaches
ambiguity as the next challenge and is committed to delivering a high-quality
work product
• You are a highly detail-oriented with a track record of sound judgement
• You are an avid aviation enthusiast with piloting, military, or flight experience
Work Location
Enigma’s headquarters is currently located in Burlington, MA. This position is primarily on-site.
