Job Overview
Manages and coordinates the administrative and operational staff, systems, and activities that ensure optimal functioning and maintenance of all building properties. Directs the maintenance of all building systems including mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, plumbing, and waste management. Prepares and implements preventive maintenance schedules. Manages and trains staff of employees in the general maintenance of buildings, grounds, infrastructures, and equipment.
Duties
- Ensures facilities maintenance work follows safety standards, conforms to specifications, and work orders are tracked and completed within the budgeted guidelines.
- Oversees contractors engaged for facility renovation projects.
- Ensures that projects/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.
- Plans department operations, establishing priorities and sequences of operations.
- Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Review & resolve non-conformance problems as they are identified.
- Develops or revises standard operational and working practices. Observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
- Resolves worker conflicts and/or counsels with employees.
- Compiles, stores, and retrieves department data.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and general public
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Managers must acquire and maintain mandatory safety, human resources and environmental training.
