General Summary
The Production Planner is responsible for proactively maintaining and continuously improving the planning processes while ensuring all materials are on hand to meet production needs. This position is responsible for complete and accurate communication to all levels across the supply chain and operations, generating and maintaining a Production Plan for the business, and reviewing the production adherence to Production Plan and feedback on any issues to the leadership team.
Primary functions & responsibilities
- Create a rolling 3-month Master Production Schedule for the designated products, value stream, or facility. Utilize the production capacity, taking into consideration the sales forecast, historical sales, and new business opportunities. Analyze and identify risks associated with the options built into the Master Production, including manufacturing lead times.
- Responsible for developing and issuing sequenced and level-loaded production schedules in accordance with pull system methods to meet on-time delivery and overall equipment effectiveness goals.
- Plan and prioritize operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay.
- Determine the workforce, equipment, and raw materials needed to meet production demand.
- Manage deadlines based on project expectations.
- Work with Procurement Supervisor to develop inventory targets and manage production to achieve target inventory levels on both cost and unit basis.
- Coordinate production with manufacturing.
- Confirm material availability to create process orders weekly for current manufacturing to support service objectives. This may include the creation of stock transfers from other warehouse facilities.
- Manage the Production Job Order process from planning to job release to parts received in inventory.
- Review material shortages preventing order conversion and follow up with appropriate suppliers to expedite deliveries.
- Utilize capacity planning economic order quantity evaluation to ensure a smoother supply chain.
- Evaluate days of supply to ensure proper date maintenance, quantity, sequencing, and prioritizing of production runs.
- Identify and resolve problems relating to inventory.
- Participation in the coordination of engineering changes, product line extensions, or new product launches to ensure timely transitions in material and production flow.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- At least Five years of experience in Production Planning
- Experience planning production within an ERP/MRP system (NAV).
- Excellent customer service skills, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task with little supervision.
- Ability to work independently with strong decision-making skills.
- High level of integrity and work ethic.
Working conditions
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computers and peripherals.
- Noise from ringing telephones and office equipment cannot be avoided.
Physical demand
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $77,510.00 - $82,749.00 per year
