We’re hiring an SWPPP Construction Inspector to work based from our Houston, TX, office. In this role, you’ll ensure that construction projects comply with Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) requirements. The SWPPP Inspector will be responsible for conducting regular site inspections, identifying environmental hazards, and verifying that proper erosion and sediment control measures are in place and maintained throughout the construction process. Responsibilities
As SWPPP Construction Inspector at Ensolum, your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, and they will typically include:
Site Inspections and Compliance
- Conducting routine on-site inspections to ensure compliance with SWPPP guidelines, environmental regulations, and local/state/federal standards.
- Identifying and documenting any non-compliance issues related to stormwater management, erosion control, and sedimentation prevention.
- Verifying that stormwater BMPs (Best Management Practices) are properly implemented and maintained throughout construction projects.
- Ensuring all erosion and sediment control measures (e.g., silt fences, sediment basins, inlet protection) are functioning as intended.
Documentation and Reporting
- Preparing detailed inspection reports that outline the findings of site visits, including any corrective actions or recommendations.
- Maintaining accurate records of inspections, compliance issues, and corrective measures taken.
- Providing written documentation for regulatory reporting, ensuring compliance with the appropriate authorities.
- Assisting in preparing and submitting reports for regulatory agencies as needed (e.g., SWPPP updates, non-compliance reports, corrective action plans).
Collaboration and Coordination
- Working closely with project managers, contractors, and environmental consultants to address and resolve environmental compliance issues.
- Assisting in the coordination of corrective actions to remedy any violations or deficiencies in stormwater management measures.
- Providing guidance on best practices and offer solutions for improving or maintaining effective stormwater control systems.
Training and Education
- Assisting in training construction staff and site workers on proper BMP implementation and SWPPP compliance procedures.
- Staying up to date with changes to environmental regulations, stormwater management practices, and industry standards.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensuring all work performed complies with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including but not limited to the Clean Water Act and NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) permits.
- Assisting in the preparation of any necessary documentation for NPDES reporting.
Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or GED required. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in construction, environmental compliance, or stormwater management, with a focus on SWPPP inspections.
Certifications: SWPPP-related certifications such as CPESC (Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control), CESSWI (Certified Erosion, Sediment, and Stormwater Inspector), or similar certifications are highly preferred.
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of SWPPP requirements, erosion and sediment control practices, and stormwater management.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to spot compliance issues and environmental hazards.
- Proficient in creating and maintaining accurate inspection reports and documentation.
- Strong communication skills to interact with project teams, regulatory agencies, and contractors.
- Ability to conduct inspections in various weather conditions and work outdoors for extended periods.
Other:
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Legally able to work as a full-time employee in the United States.
- Able to pass drug and alcohol screening and potential background and driving screening.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk construction sites, inspect stormwater management systems, and lift up to 40lbs
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to access elevated or difficult-to-reach areas when conducting inspections.
Compensation
$20.00/HR Full Time plus benefits and potential for bonuses.
