What are the responsibilities and job description for the Development Manager position at EnSuenos Y Los Angelitos Development Center?
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Support and partner with the Executive Director and Board of Directors on all major fundraising initiatives.
2. Establish a strong donor base and increase it over time.
3. Ability to secure major grants and gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other private funding sources.
4. Collaborate with the Executive Director and Finance committee to develop and implement the organization’s financial strategy.
5. Have primary responsibility for development and execution of all proposals.
6. Oversee and research funding sources and trends, with foresight, to help position the organization ahead of major funding changes or trends.
7. Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors.
8. Monitor and report regularly on the progress of the development program.
9. Knowledge of donor database management.
10. Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail. 11. Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with colleagues.
Skills and Abilities:
1. Professional experience in a nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources.)
2. Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time.
3. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral/ ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships.
4. Program planning, strong organizational, leadership and mentoring skills.
5. Flexible and adaptable style; a leader who can positively impact both strategic and tactical fundraising initiatives.
6. Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside the organization.
7. Ability to construct, articulate, and implement annual strategic development plan.
8. Customer focus; donor centric vision.
9. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time.
10. Ability to exercise good judgment, to demonstrate an understanding of ethics related to development activities, and to use discretion in interactions with donors and funders. 11.
