Job Posting Summary :
Ensworth is now accepting applications for a Lower School Chinese Teacher for the upcoming school year. This is a 10-month faculty position reporting to the Head of Lower School. Qualified candidates must have earned a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university. Prior teaching experience is preferred.
The primary focus of the lower-school World Language program is to develop and nurture the essential linguistic skills needed for meaningful communication in a target language. The program is also designed to cultivate an appreciation for and an understanding of Chinese cultures, traditions, and language. The Lower School World Language curriculum is exposure-based with an enhanced emphasis on aural-oral activities to teach language content in an engaging and fun manner.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions :
- Abides by Ensworth's Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct
- Commits to the ideals expressed in Ensworth's Mission Statement, Vision Statement, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Statement
- Adheres to the Essential Expectations of an Ensworth Faculty, Staff, or Administrator
- Plans, prepares, and delivers age-appropriate lessons to lower school students in in grades kindergarten through five
- Maintains a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning
- Selects and uses effective instructional methods, technology, and learning materials
- Establishes a cooperative relationship with all students
- Maintains open lines of communication with parents / guardians
- Engages in professional growth activities
- Works collaboratively with Middle School and High School Chinese faculty
- Works collaboratively with Lower School faculty especially in the area of creating interdisciplinary opportunities
- Participates in responsibilities and duties outside of the classroom such as carpool as needed
- Seeks out opportunities to connect Ensworth students to relevant cultural activities in Nashville
- Other duties as assigned
