*Client has had an assembly operation for years but only now is moving to a higher quantity delivery: One with dedicated cells, one that puts out part after part. This role is to design this new process from start to finish on NX
* They are moving away from SolidWorks because they moved away from Mastercam to NX for the CNC programming of their machines and want the continuity of all under the same tool.
* The line will assemble missiles and entail 15-20 parts into top levels, flow through each cell so person will manager the production flow and cell layout. Final assembly included up to 500 missiles per year.
* Handle tooling and fixturing design that supports workflow
* Work with the programmers for CNC Machine issues as they arise
Role:
* Design and develop part specific fixturing and processes (3, 4 and 5-axis machining, welding, assembly, etc.) to support efficient and effective manufacturing work flow for a wide variety of new projects. (This also includes developing/explaining user instructions and design intent to support future use).
* Work closely with and support Manufacturing Planning and CNC Programming personnel with technical issues.
* Work with team for fixturing and process design to promote Standard Work and Quick-Change fixturing concepts (S.M.E.D).
* Support production in designated resource groups and communicate status and expectations with Customer Account Managers (CAMs) as well as operations and support groups.
* Assist in the manufacturing process and continuous improvement of existing products.
* Collaborate with the quality department as needed, to optimize inspection processes to support required customer compliance.
* Collaborate with all departments to resolve production issues.
* Assist in the evaluation of engineering changes and/or other specifications and requirements.
* Write technical reports and documents for development work and processes as well as evaluation of capital investments.
* Participate in the development of the client Automation Strategy.
* Support estimating with input on manufacturing methods and producibility issues.
* Designs fixtures and processes in a way that helps the organization meet financial goals.
* Maintain an overall positive attitude within the group as well as with all other groups.
* Conform to all requirements of clients Industries Quality System and any and all customer invoked quality requirements (aerospace standard AS-9100, for example).
* Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with 6S standards.
* Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Skills/Education:
* Associate's Degree, Trade or Technical School (or equivalent experience)
* Experience in manufacturing engineering. 10 years preferred.
* 5 years experience in aerospace manufacturing with an emphasis on assembly operations preferred
* 5 years experience with CAD, Siemens NX CAD preferred but will accept others
* Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications
* Working knowledge of GD&T
* Demonstrated mechanical and technical knowledge with the ability to resolve and provide technical solutions
* Understanding of LEAN manufacturing concepts
* MS Office working experience (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)* Customer focus attitude
