What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Intern: Technical Book Editor position at Enterprise Knowledge LLC?
In 2022, Enterprise Knowledge (EK)’s CEO and COO wrote "Making Knowledge Management Clickable: Knowledge Management Systems Strategy, Design, and Implementation,” which was published by Springer Books. The book has sold thousands of copies and become one of the top-selling books in our industry. Now, EK’s leadership is working on a new book and is seeking an intern to work alongside us to edit it, coordinate the cycles of feedback, and review it before it is published. This summer internship position is based in our office in the Metro DC area.
As a Summer Intern: Technical Book Editor, you will take a lead role in copyediting, citing, and formatting this new technical volume. You will also be responsible for coordinating the creation of graphics for the book, working directly with the publishers to respond to feedback and incorporate new inputs from EK’s authors. This will give you an inside view of the critical steps involved in taking a book from draft to published work.

Our Internship Program is full-time paid internship ($22/hour) and runs from June 2nd to August 8th.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
This role requires that you live within a comfortable commutable distance of our Arlington, VA office and that you are willing to be on-site, Monday thru Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Enterprise Knowledge will not sponsor applicants for work VISAs.
Required Skills:
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree as a rising Senior
- Proven writing and editing skills
- Excellent organizational skills coupled with the ability to multitask
- Proven leadership skills demonstrating strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, as well as working collaboratively as part of a team
- The ability to meet daily, weekly, and long-term deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- The ability to work independently on important projects with minimal supervision
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Past or current experience as an editor and/or writer (i.e. college newspaper, writing center, past internships, etc.)
- Background or experience in analyzing organizational needs, processes, and challenges
- Work experience with social media, communications, and/or technology
- Interest in reasoning and rule based systems (think logic puzzles, workflow diagrams, linguistics and grammar rules, mathematical proofs, set theory, etc.)
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills to effectively convey complex topics
