Position Summary
This position is not eligible for tenure/non-probational status.
Provides leadership for developing and managing high-quality health studies programs that align with workforce needs and the College's mission. This role oversees program planning, curriculum development, compliance, and resource management while fostering industry partnership and driving student needs.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervises the day-to-day operation of the health sciences programs and personnel.
- In conjunction with the Dean of Academic Affairs, ensures SACSCOC compliance and specialty accreditation compliance of all programs/services in departments/office in assigned area of responsibility.
- Responsible for administrative oversight to ensure compliance with licensing and regulatory rules established by state licensing agencies.
- In consultation with the Dean of Academic Affairs, oversees and participates in the improvement of instruction processes for full and part-time health sciences faculty.
- Reviews proposed health programs’ class schedules and teaching loads to ensure student centered schedules for day, night, and online students.
- Assists the health science program directors in recruiting and recommending adjunct faculty and temporary, part-time faculty for health sciences programs.
- Recommends faculty and staff assignments.
- Participates in the college-wide planning process and institutional effectiveness of the College.
- Assists with accreditation and certification processes.
- In cooperation with the Director of Institutional Research conducts annual program review activities for health programs.
- Supervises the planning, budgeting, and expenditures of funds allocated for the health sciences division.
- Supervises and evaluates health sciences program faculty in the performance of their duties.
- Recommends curriculum for new/additional courses/programs to be offered.
- Coordinates curriculum development by health sciences faculty to respond to student and regional workforce and community needs, including establishment and assessment of learning outcomes at the course and programmatic level.
- Works with health sciences faculty to integrate emerging technologies and innovation trends into the curriculum.
- Builds and maintains strong partnerships with local healthcare facilities and workforce development agencies.
- Assists in the promotion and marketing of the college image and health sciences instructional programs in the college service area and regionally.
- Provides assistance with distance learning activities as they relate to health sciences programs.
- Assists in student recruitment including career fairs, college fairs, and community events.
- Coordinates retention and advising efforts with students within the health sciences division.
- Responds to health sciences student concerns and inquires.
- Strengthens relationships with strategic college partners such as admissions, student services, and financial aid.
- Oversees the maintenance of inventory records of all equipment assigned to the respective health sciences departments and periodically reconcile the records with the Business Office.
- Supervises funds allocated for travel within the health sciences departments.
- Acts as liaison between the health sciences programs and appropriate administrators to ensure that policies and procedures are followed.
- Ensures compliance with College, ACCS, and board policies.
- Serves on college-wide committee as required.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in an allied health field from an accredited institution, required.
- Minimum of five years of experience in an allied health field, required.
- Three years of leadership experience, required.
- Experience working in higher education, preferred.

SALARY: Compensation is in accordance with the Alabama Community College System’s Salary Schedule C1 ($88,531 - $131,266).
