What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time SPED BEHAVIOR PARAPROFESSIONAL- K-8 Charter School position at Entheos Academy?
Entheos Academy is a K-8 Service Learning charter school. We are seeking a part time Behavior Paraprofessional to work with our Special Education Team at our MAGNA campus.
General Responsibilities
Working under the direct supervision of the Special Education Lead Teacher to:
- Understand and become fully committed to the Entheos Charter, Mission, and values.
- Learn and utilize Entheos curriculum, assessments and instructional approaches with our high need special education students.
- Conduct data gathering as part of Functional Behavioral Analyses, and participate in writing and implementing Behavior Intervention Plans.
- Work with the Special Education Case Manager in determining, coordinating and delivering the academic and behavioral services of students with high behavior needs.
- Intentionally participate in building a positive school culture that evidences high expectations for service, excellence, and leadership.
- De-escalate students with IEPs who are in crisis, and implement safety protocols as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- Must have completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education; or obtained an associate’s degree or higher degree; or meet a rigorous standard of quality demonstrated through a state sanctioned Praxis assessment.
- Strong reading, writing, and speaking skills in English.
- Strong math skills.
- Basic tech skills.
- Speaking Spanish as an additional language is considered a plus.
- Certification in de escalation techniques, or willingness to become certified.

- Have a love for kids with special needs and a very positive attitude.
Essential Functions
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Sit, stand, walk, and kneel for required periods of time.
- Ability to navigate different kinds of terrain on fieldwork such as steps, mountain paths, and uneven ground.
- Ability to walk at least a mile while on fieldwork with students.
- Ability to endure climate conditions such as heat, cold, wind, rain, snow experienced at recess or on fieldwork.
- Ability to move quickly/run in case of student emergencies.
- Ability to restrain a student in accordance with training, for safety reasons if necessary.
- Speak, read, write, and proficiently in English.
- Able to see and hear adequately to perform job description.
- Reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to handle objects and operate tools, computers, and/or controls.
